This webinar will explore the critical considerations facing executives amid the increasingly challenging backdrop of cybersecurity and privacy compliance.
The economy is becoming overwhelmingly digital; a trend that’s only accelerated during the Covid-19 pandemic. As widespread quarantines and work-from-home orders drive consumers ever more online, and further expose sensitive data to potentially unstable networks, the recent push for much more stringent data privacy and security rules is gaining more popularity and political momentum.
High-profile data breaches are pressuring lawmakers to strengthen cybersecurity and data privacy laws, which has so far resulted in California’s far-reaching CCPA. And, as executives are warily noticing, a major component of this new push is a willingness to hold the C-suite and boardroom personally responsible for their company’s failure to protect data.
In other words, cybersecurity is no longer a task to be given to IT and forgotten, but a central component of every operational strategy. As such, it’s essential for leaders “to understand the cyber and privacy business risks, the opportunities to mitigate those risks, and the ways to manage and lead throughout the security and privacy journey,” in the words of Secure The Village event organizers.
Additionally, a set of global norms developed by the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace has suggested a new set of Global cyberspace norms for digital citizens and stewards to follow. Developed with the guidance of Internet co-creator, Dr Vint Cerf, who is a friend of Secure The Village and colleague of George Usi in the advocacy of internet advancement (IPv6), the purpose for these cybersecurity norms were highlighted in one of Omnistruct’s blogs.
Information Security Webinar: Registration Open
Omnistruct CEO George Usi, who has already shared his expertise on these topics at the Omnistruct blog and elsewhere, will be offering an up-to-date perspective in the upcoming information security webinar hosted by Secure The Village (where he’s also a member of the board). He and Dr. Stahl will also be joined by Jordan Fischer, CIPP-E, CIPP-US, CIPM, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at XPAN Law Group.
They’ll break down the topic of executive management of cybersecurity in the following categories:
- Understanding executive-level security and privacy concerns
- Creating strategies to mitigate security and privacy risks
- Demonstrating strong leadership to encourage security and privacy
- Inspiring the type of top-down cultural change needed to effect meaningful change within the organization
These insights will be valuable not just to C-suite executives, but also to information security managers, CISOs and other central leadership figures who will all play critical roles in the new cybersecurity mindset. Registration for the information security webinar is open now; you can read more or register here.
